Wild Bird Watching
This is a great site for beginning bird enthusiasts.  There is a list of common backyard birds, as well as a helpful 'What to do When" list that advises on dealing with baby birds, found eggs, injured birds, and more. A great site for independent reading for older children.  
 
Smithsonian National Zoological Park - Birds
Make a virtual visit to the National Zoo via the website!  There is a flamingo webcam and a great page for kids that includes puzzles, games and coloring pages.  
 
Xcel Energy BirdCams
This site has webcams for eagles, ospreys, kestrels, owls, and falcons.  The brief fact page for each species is a great source for short reports or narrations.  Webcam viewing is seasonal.  
 
PBS Nature
This site has a listing of all of the shows that have, or will, air on PBS.  On the right, click on Browse Nature by Animal to get an exhaustive list of programs and resources for birds as well as other animals.  At the top, choose video for free video clips and behind the scenes information.
